Today we got up early and went to the great wall! Check out these pics!!! I had so much fun! It was even more beautiful the second time. This time we went to the same section but walked a different direction. We walked a total of 10 kilometers (about 6 miles) and I'm pretty sure it was uphill both ways!! I didn't buy anything but I helped my friend Carly barter for a tea set. The original price was $280 and I got it down to $60! I'm glad my bartering skills aren't rusty!! After the Great Wall we had a delicious lunch with some of my old favorite dishes, and some new. There was sweet and sour pork, eggs with tomatoes, kung pow chicken, and a few other dishes- and rice of course. We went back to the hotel around 5 and had two hours to rest before we met up for dinner.
For dinner we took a bus to Lotus Lane. It was a place I had been to before but was very fun and exciting to visit again. There is an outdoor promanade type sidewalk lined with bars, restaurants, and pubs that surrounds a small but beautiful and calm lake. We ate dinner as a group at a restaurant that Professor Mao had recommended. After dinner the professors went back to the hotel and we hung out as a group at an outdoor bar for a little while. Dr. Dyer had two jackets and was kind enough to lend me one because silly me didn't think it would get chilly at night! It was a fun time and the more i get to know the other students on this trip the more i seem to like them! We had a tough time getting a taxi for the way home, but we eventually found someone willing to take us foreigners back to the hotel for a fair price.
Today was both exhilarating and exhausting! I am so happy to be back in China. Everyone in my group always asks for my advice and opinion. I feel bad because I don't always have an answer to their questions! I will always try my best though!
